Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about logging drives, exports, and how Permit2Drive works.
Getting Started
What is Permit2Drive?
Permit2Drive is a simple app for tracking supervised driving hours. It helps you log drives quickly, track totals, and export clean records when needed.
Who is Permit2Drive for?
Permit2Drive is primarily designed for learner drivers who need to track supervised driving hours as they work toward getting their license.
It can also be useful for families who want a simple shared driving log, for driver training situations with multiple supervisors, or for anyone who wants an easy way to keep a detailed personal driving record.
Do I need to create an account?
No new Permit2Drive account is required. You can use the app in Local Only mode with no sign-in at all.
If you want backup, syncing, or shared access, you can connect your Google account. Your data is stored in your own Google Drive —not in a separate Permit2Drive account—and you stay in control.
That means no new passwords to remember and no extra email spam from us.
Where is my data stored?
If you use Google sync, your driving log is stored in your own Google Drive .
If you use Local Only mode, your data stays on your device. It is a good idea to export a backup occasionally. If your phone is lost, reset, or reinstalled, local-only data may be lost unless you have saved a backup.
Logging Drives
What can I track in a drive?
You can track drive time, day or night driving, weather, road type, and your own notes. This makes it easier to keep a detailed record and review specific driving conditions later.
Do you support multiple drivers?
Yes. Permit2Drive is especially helpful for families with more than one learner driver.
Do you support multiple supervisors?
Yes. You can track drives with different supervisors, which is helpful when a learner drives with more than one parent, guardian, instructor, or other approved adult.
Can others contribute to my drive log?
Yes—if you use the Google option.
Create your driving log, then open the menu and select Add User . That person can then add drives to the log.
You stay in control of who has access, and the log remains stored in your Google Drive .
Can I edit a drive after saving?
Yes. You can update or correct drives at any time before exporting.
Can I pause and resume a drive?
Yes. You can pause a drive and resume it later—useful for errands or breaks.
Importing & Backup
How do I import from RoadReady?
In the app menu, select Import , then choose your RoadReady file. Permit2Drive will bring in your existing drives so you can continue without starting over.
Should I back up my drives if I use Local Only?
Yes. If you use Local Only mode, it is a good idea to export a CSV backup occasionally. This gives you a copy outside your phone in case something happens to your device.

In the app menu, select Export , then choose the CSV option.
Save the file somewhere secure outside your phone, such as cloud storage or a computer.
You can later import that file back into Permit2Drive if your phone is lost, replaced, or reset.
Privacy & Data
Do you collect my data?
Permit2Drive is designed to minimize data collection. When using Google sync, your data is stored in your own Google Drive—not on our servers.
Do you show ads?
Yes, some versions of Permit2Drive may show ads. They help support the app and keep it available to more families.
Ads do not affect your driving data or your exported logs.
