Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about logging drives, exports, and how Permit2Drive works.

Getting Started

What is Permit2Drive?

Permit2Drive is a simple app for tracking supervised driving hours. It helps you log drives quickly, track totals, and export clean records when needed.

Who is Permit2Drive for?

Permit2Drive is primarily designed for learner drivers who need to track supervised driving hours as they work toward getting their license.

It can also be useful for families who want a simple shared driving log, for driver training situations with multiple supervisors, or for anyone who wants an easy way to keep a detailed personal driving record.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes. Permit2Drive uses accounts so your driving log can be backed up, shared with family members or supervisors, and available if you change devices.

You can sign in with supported options such as Google, Apple, or email, depending on your device and app version.

We use your account to provide the app’s core features, such as saving your driving log, syncing updates, and managing shared access. We do not use your driving log data for advertising or profiling.

How is my driving log saved?

Permit2Drive saves your driving log using secure cloud storage connected to your account. This helps keep your log backed up and makes it easier to share access with family members or supervisors.

Your device may also keep a local copy so the app can work smoothly, but your account is what allows your log to be recovered or shared.

You can also export your driving records when you want a separate copy for your own files or for licensing requirements.

Where is my data stored?

Your driving log is stored using secure cloud storage connected to your Permit2Drive account. This allows your log to be saved, synced, recovered, and shared with people you invite.

Your device may also store some app data locally so Permit2Drive can work smoothly.

You can delete your account and driving log data from within the app. If you need a copy of your records before deleting your account, export your log first.

Can I change how the app looks?

Yes. Permit2Drive includes appearance options so you can choose a visual style that fits your preference.

Changing the app appearance does not affect your driving data, saved logs, exports, or sharing settings.

Logging Drives

What can I track in a drive?

You can track drive time, day or night driving, weather, road type, and your own notes. This makes it easier to keep a detailed record and review specific driving conditions later.

Do you support multiple drivers?

Yes. Permit2Drive is especially helpful for families with more than one learner driver.

Do you support multiple supervisors?

Yes. You can track drives with different supervisors, which is helpful when a learner drives with more than one parent, guardian, instructor, or other approved adult.

Can others contribute to my drive log?

Yes. Permit2Drive supports shared driving logs so family members, supervisors, or other approved users can help add supervised driving practice.

The log owner can invite another person from within the app. The invited person signs in with their own account and joins the shared driving log.

This is helpful when a learner driver practices with more than one parent, guardian, instructor, or supervisor.

How do I share my driving log?

Do not share your personal sign-in information. Instead, use Permit2Drive’s sharing option to invite someone to your driving log.

From the app, the log owner can open the sharing options, create an invite, and share the code or instructions with the person they want to add.

The invited person signs in with their own account and joins the shared log. Once added, they can help record supervised driving practice based on the access they are given.

Who can remove people from a shared driving log?

The creator or owner of a driving log controls shared access. The owner can remove people from the shared log when they should no longer have access.

Removing someone from a shared log stops that person from accessing or contributing to that log going forward. It does not delete the owner’s driving log.

Can I delete my account or driving log?

Yes. You can delete your Permit2Drive account and associated driving log data from within the app.

Only the creator or owner of a driving log can delete that shared log for everyone. Other users can be removed from a shared log, but they cannot delete the owner’s log.

Before deleting your account or log, we recommend exporting your driving records if you need a copy for your own files or licensing requirements.

Can I edit a drive after saving?

Yes. You can update or correct drives at any time before exporting.

Can I pause and resume a drive?

Yes. You can pause a drive and resume it later—useful for errands or breaks.

Importing & Backup

How do I import from RoadReady?

In the app menu, select Import, then choose your supported RoadReady export file. Permit2Drive will bring in your existing drives so you can continue without starting over.

Is my driving log backed up?

Yes. Permit2Drive saves your driving log using secure cloud storage connected to your account, so your records can be synced and recovered when you sign in again.

Your device may also keep some app data locally so Permit2Drive can work smoothly, but your account is what allows your driving log to be synced, recovered, shared, and restored.

We still recommend exporting your records before deleting your account, changing apps, or submitting records for licensing requirements.

Can I export or restore my driving records?

Yes. You can export your driving records when you want a separate copy for your own files, licensing requirements, or long-term record keeping.

If you sign in on a new device with the same account, Permit2Drive can restore your driving log from the data saved with your account.

Import options may also be available for supported file types, such as bringing in an existing driving log from another app.

What happens if I lose or replace my phone?

Sign in with the same Permit2Drive account on your new device. If your driving log was saved with your account, Permit2Drive can restore your records.

We still recommend exporting important records before deleting your account or relying on them for licensing paperwork.

Purchases & Family Sharing

How do I restore my Ad-Free purchase?

If you already purchased Ad-Free and later reinstalled Permit2Drive, changed devices, or do not see Ad-Free active, open the app menu and use Restore Purchases .

Restore Purchases works with the same Apple App Store or Google Play account that was used to make the original purchase.

If the purchase was made with a different store account, you may need to switch to that account first and then try restoring again.

Can I share Ad-Free with my family?

On Apple devices, Ad-Free may be eligible for Apple Family Sharing if Family Sharing is enabled for the purchase and your Apple account settings allow shared purchases.

Apple notes that family members may need to use the app’s restore flow to access shared non-consumable in-app purchases. In Permit2Drive, open the app menu and use Restore Purchases on the family member’s device.

Family Sharing availability depends on Apple account settings, purchase sharing settings, and App Store eligibility. Google Play family purchase behavior may differ.

Privacy & Data

Do you collect my data?

Permit2Drive collects and stores the information needed to provide the app’s core features, such as your account, driving log, drivers, supervisors, shared access, and saved drive records.

Your driving log data is used to operate the app — including logging drives, syncing records, sharing access, importing, exporting, and account management.

We do not sell your driving log data or use it for advertising or profiling.

Do you show ads?

Yes, some versions of Permit2Drive may show ads. Ads help support the app and keep it available to more families.

If you prefer an ad-free experience, Permit2Drive offers a one-time Ad-Free purchase that removes ads from the app.

The Ad-Free purchase is handled through the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on your device and does not affect your driving data, your saved logs, or your exported records.
